About Skywave
What this is
Skywave is a free, ad-free globe of live radio. Spin the globe, tap a dot, and listen to a station from that place. There are no accounts, no ads and no trackers.
Skywave is a directory of links. We never host, relay, proxy, record or cache any audio. When you press play, your browser connects directly to the station's own stream. All streams, names and logos belong to their respective stations and owners. Listing here does not imply any endorsement or affiliation.
Station information comes from the community-run Radio Browser database. Place data uses GeoNames (CC BY 4.0). The map uses Natural Earth (public domain). Cluster numbers use Noto Sans (SIL Open Font License). Some stations have only an approximate location (for example, a country centre).
Only stations with a working https:// stream are listed, and streams are re-checked regularly. Dead ones are removed automatically.
Privacy
- No cookies and no sign-up. We do not build profiles.
- Your favourites, recently played list and volume are stored only in your browser (localStorage) and never leave your device.
- Analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics only. It is cookie-free and does not track individuals across sites.
- Where you are: Cloudflare tells our server which country a request comes from, only to choose which station list to send (see Terms). We do not store it.
- Stations and Radio Browser see your IP: the station's stream server necessarily sees your IP address when you listen, as with any website. When playback starts, your browser also pings Radio Browser to count the listen, as their API guidelines ask, so Radio Browser sees it too.
- Broken-stream reports store only the station ID and a reason. A short-lived, salted one-way hash of your IP is used for daily rate limiting; the raw IP is never stored, and the hash cannot be linked across days.
- Contact form: if you submit it, we store your name, email, station and message for as long as needed to handle your request and keep a record of the outcome.
Terms
- Skywave is provided “as is”, with no warranty. Streams can be offline, change or stop at any time and we do not control their content.
- Content you hear is the responsibility of the station that transmits it. If you believe a listing infringes your rights or breaks the law, use the contact form below or email us and we will act on it.
- United Kingdom: visitors in the UK are currently shown UK stations only. This is applied on the server based on your connection's country.
- Please do not scrape or overload the service, and do not use it to attack stations or third-party servers.
- We may update these terms; the date of the latest change is shown below.
